Unusual Sightings
Ralph’s music is often mentioned in unusual
contexts - and here are a couple of examples.
You may have heard of Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the
man who developed HTML computer code. He is generally
considered the father of the world wide web.
Berners-Lee was the subject of a lengthy feature
article in a recent edition of the Sunday Telegraph
newspaper. In the article, he discusses his leisure
interests and reveals he plays the piano and
guitar: “Ralph McTell songs mostly’” he
says.
Another example is the website of an American
organisation, The Franciscan Sisters of Christian
Charity. The nuns chose’Jesus Wept’ as
their ‘song of the month’ for Easter.
They describe it as “... an ardent narrative
of Christ’s heartrending journey to the
cross ...” You might like to visit the
sisters’ website to read the interesting
comments appended to their blog entry - scroll
down the page and click on ‘Jesus Wept’.

As Far As I Can Tell News, too, about Ralph’s long-awaited
single-volume autobiography. This will be published
soon and will combine ‘Angel Laughter’ and ‘Summer
Lightning’ under the title ‘As Far
As I Can Tell’. Ralph has added several
new chapters and the combined volume includes
a selection of previously unpublished photographs
from the McTell family album. The 600-page paperback
is now in the final stages of production and
its publication will be announced here so keep
watching this website.
Fairport Cropredy Festival

has put together a mini-documentary about the
festival. If you’ve ever wondered what
Cropredy is like, the nine-minute video offers
an authentic taste of the event. You can watch
it on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFLE2eeZB3k
